When adults volunteer, all students benefit! Family involvement is the strongest predictor of school success for children. There are MANY opportunities for involvement and your help is needed!
If you are interested in any of the below committees, whether to chair or join, or if you'd like to propose a new committee or idea, please email the PTO at honeygo.elementary.pto@gmail.com. If you aren't sure what you'd like to do, or want to find out where the most help is needed, please email us and we'll let you know!
Please note - if you would like to volunteer at the school (or on field trips), you must complete the BCPS Volunteer Application and Training and submit it to the school. This must be completed EVERY YEAR and can be found here: CLICK HERE FOR VOLUNTEER APPLICATION
2024-2025 HONEYGO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PTO COMMITTEES
ASSEMBLIES (Chair: Juanita Hilseberg)
This committee will coordinate 2-3 school assemblies during the school year.
AUDIT (Chair: Christina Uhrin)
Our Audit committee conducts a detailed review of the PTO treasurer's financial records at the end of the school year.
BINGO (Co-Chairs: Angela Regensburg, Cati DeMartini)
Our BINGO committee coordinates and promotes a BINGO fundraiser. Earned funds support PTO initiatives.
BOOK FAIR (Co-Chairs: Holly White, Kelly Klastava)
Our Book Fair committee coordinates and promotes the fall and spring Scholastic book fairs. Our book fairs will now be for profit, with a focus on being able to offer a BOGO (buy one get one) book fair each spring.
BYLAWS (Chair: Meghan Milburn)
Our Bylaws committee reviews, edits, and submits the PTO bylaws every other year.
FALL FEST (Co-Chairs: Mary Donaldson, Lisa Surplus, Melissa Karlik)
Our Fall Fest committee plans and coordinates the annual fall fest event in late October. This event includes a Trunk-or-Treat as well as other games, entertainment and prizes.
FAMILY INVOLVEMENT (Co-Chairs: Kelly Klastava, Christine Ruskey)
This committee coordinates and promotes fitness, heritage, and reading events throughout the year, as well as other events and activities, for students and families.
FIELD DAY (Co-Chairs: Mary Donaldson, Melissa Karlik)
Our Field Day committee coordinates t-shirts, purchases supplies and coordinates volunteers at stations throughout the day(s), in collaboration with the HES physical education teachers.
FIFTH GRADE ADVISORY (Co-Chairs: Holly White, Elizabeth Laflamme)
This committee celebrates our graduating fifth graders by coordinating commemorative shirts, an in-school farewell, an outside party, a legacy gift to the school, etc.
FIRST-YEAR LEGACY (Chair: Lindsay Andon)
This committee chair coordinates sales of the remaining leaves on the legacy display in the school, which was created to honor the inaugural year.
FUN RUN FUNDRAISER (Co-Chairs: Linda Brooks, Jessica Massey)
Our Fun Run Fundraiser committee plans, coordinates and promotes an annual fun run at the school. Earned funds support PTO initiatives.
HOSPITALITY / TEACHER APPRECIATION (Co-Chairs: Elizabeth Laflamme, Rachel Battista)
Our Hospitality committee provides refreshments for Welcome Back Week, Teacher Appreciation Week, PTO meetings, and coordinates gifts and refreshments at other various times throughout the year.
MEMBERSHIP (Chair: Molly Martin)
This committee chair distributes membership forms and works to solicit new family and business members, coordinates a membership contest, and tracks members and dues.
NEWSLETTER (Co-Chairs: Sara Baker, Alison Sturgeon)
Our Newsletter committee collects content for, lays out, and distributes the bi-monthly PTO newsletter.
NOMINATING (Chair: Meghan Milburn)
This committee creates the slate for upcoming PTO officers at the end of the school year.
PATRIOTS AND DEFENDERS (Chair: Erin Ross)
This committee facilitates the Patriots and Defenders Program, which tests participating fourth and fifth graders on their knowledge of history and citizenship, based on their grade level.
SCHOOL KITS (Chair: Lindsay Andon)
This committee coordinates school supply kit orders toward the end of the school year and distributes them at the beginning of the new school year.
SPECIAL EDUCATION LIAISON (Chair: Holly White)
Our chair attends BCPS meetings and shares information and resources at PTO meetings, in the PTO newsletter, and on our PTO Facebook account.
SPIRIT NIGHTS (Co-Chairs: Kim Erceg, Leah Brody)
Our Spirit Nights committee coordinates and promotes monthly events, where the PTO receives a percentage of the day or dinner receipts from local restaurants.
SPIRIT WEAR (Chair: Angela Regensburg)
This committee chair coordinates and promotes the sale and distribution of HES spirit wear.
WEBSITE (Chair: Jessica Massey)
This committee chair updates our PTO website for calendar events, meeting details and minutes, and other PTO information.
YEARBOOK (Co-Chairs: Alison Sturgeon, Jacqui Breach)
This committee coordinates photos of school and PTO events, clubs, classes, etc., designs, sells and distributes the annual yearbook.
